Dovida, a global home care franchisor, acquired A Place At Home earlier this year and tapped Mike Boyer to run the deal's most important test market. Boyer now leads Dovida North America, overseeing a 77-unit domestic franchise system built by founders Dustin Distefano and Jerod Evanich.

A Deliberate Pace, Not a Rebuild

Boyer spent seven years as chief operating officer at Home Instead, where he ran a $1 billion business spanning more than 500 offices in 12 countries. At A Place At Home, he is applying that experience differently. Rather than overhaul the system, he is tightening marketing, training and franchise support around what already works.

Why Franchisees Should Care

For A Place At Home's 77 domestic franchise owners, the acquisition puts their brand inside Dovida's seventh international market and its first US operation. That means the North American system now anchors a global growth story instead of standing alone, and Boyer's early moves signal that support infrastructure, not brand disruption, will define the integration.

The Harder Part of the Job

Boyer says merging the Dovida and A Place At Home cultures without flattening either one is his biggest challenge, alongside moving quickly without losing the discipline that keeps a 77-unit franchise system consistent for clients and caregivers. Senior care franchising rewards operators who protect service quality through ownership changes, and proving that is now his job.
