Mavis completed its $700 million purchase of Pep Boys from Icahn Enterprises, pushing its franchised and owned service network past 4,400 locations.

Mavis Tire Express Services closed its roughly $700 million cash acquisition of Pep Boys from Icahn Automotive Group, adding nearly 800 locations and pushing Mavis past 4,400 owned and franchised service centers across the United States and Canada. Pep Boys keeps its brand identity inside the Mavis family, which already includes Midas, Tire Kingdom, NTB and Tuffy.
Icahn Enterprises structured the deal to hold onto value even after selling the operating business. It retained the real estate underneath many Pep Boys locations, along with two other automotive brands, AAMCO Transmissions and Precision Tune Auto Care, meaning Pep Boys will likely keep paying rent to its former parent under the new ownership.
The acquisition gives Mavis its strongest presence yet in the Western United States, a region where its historical network had been thinner than in the East and South. Buying an established chain with nearly 800 sites gets Mavis into new territory faster than opening locations one at a time, and it comes as consolidation keeps reshaping the automotive service sector.
Mavis now operates ten service brands under one roof, a structure that lets it absorb an acquisition like Pep Boys without retiring a name customers already recognize. For operators inside multi-brand platforms, deals like this one signal where corporate development dollars are headed, and which regions are next in line for consolidation.
