A private-equity-exit operator took three Mold Medics territories in Columbus, betting on steady demand for mold remediation and home testing.

Mold Medics awarded three territories in Columbus, Ohio to franchisee Michael Creatore, a multi-unit expansion inside a single metro. Creatore is not new to business ownership. He sold a senior care company to a private equity firm and went looking for his next act, landing on mold remediation and home testing.
Operators who have already built and sold a company tend to hunt for categories with durable demand and clear operating systems. Mold remediation fits. The work is non-discretionary, often triggered by insurance claims or health concerns, and the market is fragmented enough that a disciplined multi-unit owner can consolidate share. Taking three territories at once signals confidence that Columbus can absorb the capacity.
Mold Medics handles remediation, testing, air duct and dryer vent cleaning, and disinfection for homes and businesses. Those services ride the same tailwinds pulling investors into restoration and environmental testing, where recurring need and insurance-funded jobs create steady revenue. For franchisors, experienced operators like Creatore are the ideal recruits because they need less hand-holding and grow faster.
Awarding a cluster of territories to one proven owner is a bet on quality over quantity. It concentrates a metro under a single accountable operator rather than spreading thin across many first-timers. The tradeoff is dependence. If Creatore executes, Columbus becomes a showcase. If he stalls, an entire market slows with him.
