PuroClean, the restoration franchisor with more than 500 North American locations, says 44% of its owners now operate multiple units and 20% of its 2026 unit growth came from existing owners adding territories. The brand is now aiming its development pitch squarely at operators from quick-service restaurants, hospitality, and retail.
Why restaurant operators are the target
Water, fire, and mold damage happen regardless of consumer spending, which gives restoration a demand curve that does not track restaurant traffic. PuroClean already counts former Dunkin', Subway, Hand & Stone, and Pizza Hut operators among its owners. For a multi-unit group, adding a needs-based B2B business hedges the cyclical exposure of a consumer portfolio. Those operators also bring hiring systems and multi-site management habits that transfer directly to running crews across territories.
The numbers behind the pitch
Per its 2026 FDD, owners with a dedicated sales rep average $1.4 million in revenue, and the top 10% of that group average $5.9 million. One owner topped $20 million in gross sales from a single location. New owners land a first job in about 45 days, and those starting without staff make a first hire in about 27 days through the PuroLaunch program.
What operators should check
The $20 million figure is one franchisee, and the averages depend on hiring a sales rep, which adds fixed cost early. Restaurant operators should model the commercial sales cycle and insurance-carrier relationships before signing, since those drive revenue in restoration far more than foot traffic does. They should also ask current owners how long it took to reach referral volume that covers a full crew, since that ramp sets the real payback period.
