Dansons Capital Group closed its acquisition of Shasta Pools on August 6, teaming with Accrual Equity Partners and Hydro Construction to take over the 60-year-old Phoenix-area pool builder. The Scottsdale investment firm, which previously built and sold Pit Boss Grills, is betting that Shasta's brand recognition and 200,000 customer relationships can anchor a national home services platform. Shasta has built or renovated more than 150,000 pools across Maricopa County since 1966.

A Founder Relationship Sparked the Deal

Dansons president Jeff Thiessen first connected with Shasta when the pool builder finished a backyard project another contractor had abandoned. That relationship led to conversations about succession, and the Ast family, which built Shasta since 1966, agreed the timing was right to bring in new ownership focused on long-term growth.

Pools Are Just the Starting Point

The new owners plan to launch Shasta Home Services, extending the brand beyond pool construction and maintenance into the broader residential services category. A new design center and headquarters in Scottsdale will centralize operations and add a technology-driven contact center meant to give customers one point of contact across every service line.

Why It Matters for Multi-Unit Operators

The deal adds to a wave of private equity capital flowing into home services, where investors prize recurring revenue and route density over one-off transactions. For franchisors and multi-unit operators watching the category, Shasta's playbook pairs a trusted legacy brand with fresh capital and a broader service menu, a combination that signals where competitors may look to expand next. Dan Thiessen, who will chair the new ownership group, said the team plans to recruit additional industry leadership as it builds out the platform.
