The merger creates a 50-location express car wash operator across four Southeast states, the latest sign of consolidation in car care franchising.

Links Car Wash has acquired Woodie's Wash Shack, combining the two express car wash operators into a single company that will run 50 locations across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. The combined business will keep the Woodie's name and brand identity, while Links founder Ryan Hanks leads the merged operating company. Terms were not disclosed.
Express car washes have become one of the most active roll-up categories in franchising over the past few years, as private capital chases recurring membership revenue and low labor overhead. Combining two regional platforms lets the merged company spread marketing, technology and site-selection costs across a larger base without building new locations from scratch.
Woodie's founder Donald Phillips is staying on through a separate brand-management company that retains ownership of the Woodie's name and trade dress, a structure increasingly common in franchise consolidation deals. It lets an operator cash out of day-to-day operations while keeping a say in how the brand he built gets represented going forward.
For smaller regional car wash and auto-service brands, the deal is a reminder that scale increasingly beats geography. Operators who can't match a combined platform's marketing budget or membership technology may find themselves choosing between raising outside capital or becoming the next acquisition target. Car washes have increasingly adopted membership subscription models similar to gyms, and platforms with more locations can spread technology and retention-marketing costs over a larger member base.
