The HVAC consolidator's acquisition of a 78-year-old Roanoke contractor extends its platform into Western Virginia for the first time.

Sila Services has acquired Davis Heating and Air Conditioning Company, a 78-year-old residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractor based in Roanoke, Virginia. The deal marks the private equity-backed platform's first entry into Western Virginia and adds another family-owned operator to a portfolio that now spans more than 45 brands across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sila is one of several institutional platforms racing to consolidate residential HVAC, and competition for well-run, multi-generation family contractors has pushed valuations higher across the sector. Davis brings an established customer base in the Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Danville corridor, a market Sila had not previously reached with any of its affiliated brands, giving the platform a foothold in a region with its own distinct climate and housing stock.
Sila's model keeps acquired companies operating under their existing local names and, in most cases, their existing leadership, while layering on shared finance, HR, and purchasing functions. Davis founder Chris Bishop is expected to stay on following the close. For franchise and multi-brand operators watching the home services space, it is a reminder that roll-up platforms are increasingly the buyer of choice for independent contractors who might otherwise have converted to a franchise banner.
The Davis deal lands amid one of the most active stretches of HVAC consolidation on record, with private equity treating home comfort businesses as a durable, recession-resistant asset class. That activity is also intensifying competition for skilled technicians, a recruiting challenge that already outpaces the number of new entrants to the trade. For operators competing against these platforms for both customers and labor, the pace of acquisition activity is unlikely to slow soon.
