The commercial cleaning franchisor drops Building Solutions for a service-first name as it pushes past 96 master territories and eyes AI.

Stratus Building Solutions rebranded to Stratus Clean on its 20th anniversary, trading a generic name for one that says what the company does. The franchisor runs 96 master territories across 47 states and Canada and supports more than 5,100 unit franchisees in the $90 billion janitorial and facility services market.
A rebrand is rarely just cosmetic. Commercial Cleaning Elevated tells prospects and customers exactly what Stratus sells, which shortens the sales conversation for master owners chasing contracts. For a brand that sells more than 1,000 franchises a year, clarity at the top of the funnel compounds across the whole network.
Stratus runs corporate, master franchise territories, and unit franchisees as three layers. Master owners sell franchises and land the cleaning contracts, then hand those contracts to unit operators who do the work. That structure turns every master office into a local franchise-development team, which is how the brand adds units so fast without a single corporate sales force.
CEO Doug Flaig pointed to AI and robotics as a way to cut labor per account while lifting each franchisee's capacity. Commercial cleaning runs on thin margins and high turnover, so any tool that reduces headcount per contract goes straight to franchisee profit. Post-pandemic lease renewals in retail and industrial space also open new accounts beyond traditional offices.
