Stratus Clean has signed new master franchise territories covering Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama, extending its commercial cleaning network deeper into the Southeast. The agreements give master franchisees exclusive rights to recruit, train, and support unit-level janitorial operators across both metro areas, rather than cleaning buildings themselves.
Stratus Clean grows through a three-tier structure: corporate sets brand standards, master franchisees sell and support unit franchises within a protected territory, and unit franchisees deliver the actual cleaning services to offices, medical facilities, schools, and retail space. That structure lets the brand add sales and recruiting capacity market by market without staffing a corporate development team in every region it enters.
The company is still recruiting master franchise partners for Montgomery and Huntsville, Alabama, and has identified Pensacola, Florida, as its next target market along the Gulf Coast. Sustained population growth and a healthy small-business climate across the Southeast are the reasons the brand cites for prioritizing the region over other parts of the country right now.
For prospective master franchisees, the appeal is a recurring-revenue business built on long-term janitorial contracts rather than one-time transactions, with average unit volumes the brand reports above $3 million and roughly 90% of revenue recurring. Stratus Clean also points to franchisee sentiment as a selling point, saying 86% of its masters say they would make the same decision again. For the broader business-services franchise category, the territory-by-territory rollout is a working template for how master franchising can scale a service brand quickly while keeping the franchisor's direct capital investment low.
