Camp Bow Wow has signed a three-unit development deal bringing the dog daycare and boarding franchise to Weatherford, Burleson and Granbury in North Texas, its latest expansion built on a redesigned, lower-cost store format. First-time franchisees Trinity Shields and Abigale Freeman will develop all three locations, starting in Weatherford.
The new development model reduces the capital required to build a Camp Bow Wow location by more than $400,000 compared with the brand's previous format. The smaller, more flexible footprint gives franchisees a wider pool of real estate options, addressing one of the biggest barriers to multi-unit growth in large-format pet care concepts.
Camp Bow Wow has introduced similar reduced-footprint prototypes in Virginia and Tennessee, part of a broader push to make additional locations more financially manageable for new and experienced operators alike. Shields and Freeman are new to franchising, yet the lower investment threshold let them commit to three territories out of the gate rather than starting with a single store.
Camp Bow Wow already operates more than 220 locations, including over 30 in Texas, and signed 14 new franchise agreements in 2025. Parent company Propelled Brands has said it plans to accelerate development in 2026, and a construction model that trims six figures off build costs gives the brand a sharper pitch to multi-unit investors weighing pet care against other service categories.
