Premier Care Dental Management has acquired Seven Pines Dental Group, a three-location practice network in Central Virginia offering general, restorative, cosmetic and pediatric dentistry. The deal gives PCDM its first foothold in the Commonwealth and extends a dental support organization that already backs practices across eight Northeast and Midwest states. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

A New State on the Map

PCDM's footprint has run through New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Virginia breaks that Northeast concentration and signals the company will move into new geography when the right multi-location group becomes available, rather than waiting to build density state by state first.

Why Multi-Location Groups Get Picked First

Seven Pines already operated three practices under one ownership structure before the sale, the kind of target DSOs favor because it delivers scale and an established management layer in a single transaction. For a practice owner weighing a sale, that preference matters: a single-location practice competes against multi-location groups for buyer attention, and buyers increasingly pay for scale they don't have to build themselves.

Reading the Broader Consolidation Trend

Roughly 35% of the U.S. dental industry now sits inside consolidated groups, and the five largest DSOs alone support more than 5,600 practices. Deal volume has stayed steady even as capital markets activity shakes out the biggest platforms, which means practice-level M&A, like PCDM's move into Virginia, is likely to keep setting the pace regardless of what happens at the top of the market.
